Facilities

IDENTITY CARD :
Each Student is provided with an I-Card. This card is to be carried always. If it is lost, it must be imformed to the office immediately. A new card may be issued on payment of fees. In case of transfer from the college, student must return the card to the college office.


SEMINAR LIBRARY
Each Department maintains a seminar library, an additional facility for the Honours students to borrow books.

NSS BOOK BANK
Under the supervision of NSS a second independent Book Bank Unit is run, formed by regular contribution from faculty members. This facility has been extremely useful for the students of the college as this is an additional source (apart from the Centra! Library) of books for poor students, for the entire academic year.

LABORATORY
College provides well equipped laboratories -for Computer Science and IT, for Food & Nutrition, for Geography and for Psychology courses.

MODERN TEACHING AIDS
College provides audiovisual aids like OHP, LCD projector etc. to the class rooms for easy and better explanation of the subject matters by the teachers to the students.

SEMINARS AND EXTENSION LECTURES
Seminars are organised by different Departments regularly in the college with active participation of teachers and students. Arrangements are made for extension lectures in different subjects by eminent scholars.

GYMNASIUM
The college has a gymnasium with multigym facility to offer a fit and healthy life for our students. It remains open from 7-30 a.m. to 10 a.m. throughout the week (excluding Saturday and Sunday).

CULTURAL COMPETITION
Every year cultural and literary competitions among the students are arranged in the College. All students are encouraged to participate in competition and there is system of awarding the Best performers in music, drama, dance, debate etc. Students thus get opportunity to reveal their extra-curricular talents.

COLLEGE MAGAZINE
The college publishes cultural magazine yearly on a regular basis under thd leadership of teachers and collaboration with interested students. It is a significant aspect of cultural awarness offered by the Institution. Academic Journal is published incorporating teachers' research-finding and or articles. An editorial committee is there for the purpose



SPORTS
The college provides facilities for indoor games like carromboard, table-tennis etc. Every year annual outdoor sports of the college is held successfully with eager participation of students, teachers and non-teaching members and prizes are awarded. The college encourages its students to participate in several state-level competitions, inter-college and inter-University Tournaments and National Games.

Records of students' fee collection, daily accounts and various other important college records are maintained with care by efficient staff. Office staff are accessible and co-operative to students. PHONE FACILITY
Two phone sets are installed in the college -one in the main building corridor, another in the new building -for providing local call facility to students.

STUDENTS' HEALTH HOME
Provision for health service is made for medicare of the students and staff by the Students' Health Home, a unique organisation by students themselves. Students have access to North Calcutta Regional Centre of Students' Health Home, situated at S.A. Jaipuria College and also to the main centre of students' Health Home at Moulali.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
The College Alumni Association (Registered) was formed in the year 2002. Its' objective is to make co-oridination among the students who graduated from this institution in past. Seminars, picnics and various cultural programmes are organised by this association.

EXCURSIONS
Annual Excursion programme for students are organized by the college authorities Departmental excursions are also arranged regularly.

PARENT-TEACHER MEETINGS
The college conducts Parent-Teacher Meetings which enable parents to interact with the teachers. Teachers aiso get opportunity to suggest academic matters parents should look after when their wards are in home. Parents are also informed, about the latest developments of the college. Frank and face-to-face interactions of this kind between parents and teachers go a long way in the all round development of the students' career.

STUDENTS' COUNSELLING COMMITTEE
Recently a Students' Counselling Committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Principal and some teachers as active members of the Committee. The committee counsel the students of the College in academic and allied issues. There is an opinion box adjacent to the room of the Principal. Students may submit statements regarding their problems in writing.

PLACEMENT COUNSELLING
There is an arrangement for placement counselling of the students. There is regular display of employment opportunities on the library notice-board. COMMON ROOM The college has spacious common room for students. A number of Journals, Magazines and Newspapers are subscribed for the common room which is so arranged to be a place both for study and recreation. There are arrangements for various indoor games like Table Tennis, Carrom etc.

CHEAP STORE
There is one cheap store in the college from where students can collect their required books, khatas and other educational stationaries at reasonable rates.

CANTEEN
The college authority has accommodated a canteen in the main building which supply variety of foods at reasonable rates for the staff and the students.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL
The college has a Grievance Redressal Cell to look into grievances among the students regarding college administration, infrastructure, teaching-learning etc.

ANTI- RAGGING COMMITTEE &ANTI-RAGGING SQUAD
Our College has formed Anti-Ragging Committee and Anti-Ragging Squad on and from 6th July, 2007 for complying with the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India on measures against Ragging in educational institutions. Students are directed to contact the committee members for immediate reporting of any case of ragging within the college premises.

SEXUAL HARRASSMENT REDRESSAL CELL
In our college there is a 'Sexual Harrassment Redressal Cell' on and from July 8, 2005 for complying with the UGC guidelines as notified by circular No. C/7153, dtd. 08/02/05. It comprises of a few teacher members who are accessible and sensitive to students. Students may come for availing any type of help regarding any sexual harrassment within the college campus.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)
The college runs one unit of National Service Scheme - Unit I, sponsored by the University of Calcutta. Students are encouraged to take part in NSS activities. The scheme includes participation in First Aid Training, drive against illiteracy, fighting against communalism and provincialism, creating environmental awareness etc.

NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)
N.C.C. Unit of Maharani Kasiswari College has started functioning from July 2004. Within this short period it has shown promise of a full blown unit with multi¬dimensional interests. Most of the cadets are sincere and disciplined, motivated by their urge to become physically strong and mentally independent. It is heartening to see that the students with their study are ever ready to give voluntary service to the community and greater society. Some of our ex-cadets have joined services under Kolkata Police Department, Mounteneering Department, Air-service etc. and are performing their duties with excellence.
